Botswana Public Health Institute, a Science-based institution established by a Presidential Cab-Directive in September 2020, serves as the national coordinator for Public Health functions, working to prevent, prepare, and respond to public health emergencies and threats.

BPHI was officially accepted as a National member of the International Association of National Public Institute(IANPHI) following the decision of the IANPHI General Assembly 2022, , and was awarded a certificate of full membership.
